Questions people ask

What should I wear to class?

For your first class wear comfortable clothes that you can easily move around in, like something you might wear to a yoga class. Please refrain from using lotions or oils at least 8 hours prior to your first class. They cause you to slip on the pole and will handicap your grip. We ask that you also remove all jewelry, like rings and bracelets and tuck them away somewhere safe. This is to protect both our poles and your jewels. If you are in a Climbs and Spins, or an Inversions class, you will need to wear shorts.

I am out of shape. Is pole dancing for me?

YES! We adore beginners. We welcome dancers of every shape, size, ability, and age. You do not need to be in shape to start. Many dancers find pole dancing gets them in the best shape of their lives - it just takes signing up for that first class to get started on your new fitness journey.

What Should I Bring to Class?

Please bring a water bottle. TCDA has a vending machine with everything you may need from socks to hydration and, dry hands, however, we do sell water bottles for $1 in the studio, if you leave yours at home. If you are climbing and inverting, you will need shorts.

I have an extensive dance background. Do I need the Intro Series?

We recommend the intro series because the foundation of our approach to pole is taught in the intro series. There are also important safety elements and terminology that is essential for all our students. The exception to this is usually 2-3 private lessons, in which our instructors can work with you one on one. Please contact us for more information.
